The Champs: Ken Morrow
The first man to win an Olympic Gold Medal and the Stanley Cup in the same year (1980)... tallied only 17 goals and 88 assists in 550 regular-season games, but the post-season was another story as he netted some of the biggest playoff goals in Islander history... among them were an overtime game-winner against Los Angeles in the 1980 preliminary round, which capped a comeback from a 3-1 deficit and eliminated the Kings; another overtime winner in the 1981 quarterfinals that gave the Isles a commanding 3-1 lead over Edmonton; and the goal that sealed game four of the 1983 Stanley Cup finals... his three overtime playoff goals tie him for fourth on the NHL's all-time list... a member of the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame, Morrow is now is the Islanders' director of pro scouting.
