The Champs: John Tonelli
He may have not been the biggest or the flashiest, but few were harder working... with the Isles facing elimination by Pittsburgh in round one of the 1982 playoffs, he scored two of the biggest goals in franchise history, including the series winner in overtime... seventh on Isles' all-time scoring list with 206 goals, 338 assists and 544 points in 594 career games... scored dramatic game-winner in the team's 15th consecutive victory on February 20, 1982, a win that broke a 50-year-old NHL record... in addition to the Stanley Cup, Tonelli's name is immortalized on an arena in Milton, Ontario... he now works in the insurance industry.
Here's more from Tonelli on the 1979-80, 1980-81 and 1982-83 seasons.
