An original Islander... assisted on the biggest goal in team history: Bob Nystrom's overtime tally in game six of the 1980 finals, which brought the Islanders their first Stanley Cup... a fine penalty killer who notched 18 shorthanded goals in his career, tying him with Butch Goring for second place on the team's all-time list... in 1980, his three shorthanded playoff goals tied an NHL record... has served as an assistant coach with the Islanders and the Chicago Blackhawks, as well as head coach of the Minnesota North Stars from 1985-87... coached the Islanders from 1994-95, and again on an interim basis late in the 2000-01 season.
