An original Islander... his name isn't engraved on the Stanley Cup as an Islander, but he was involved in an event that helped bring the first championship to Long Island: the trade that brought Butch Goring, who is generally seen as the final piece of the first championship puzzle... it took more than 15 years after that event, but Dave got his name on the Stanley Cup as a coach with the Detroit Red Wings in 1996-97, and again the following year... still with the Wings as associate coach... went 24-117-141 with 411 penalty minutes in 514 games as an Islander.
